DIANA MINI. The camera which infected me with the analog bug and sent me running off in all directions to take pictures, acquire more cameras, experiment with all kinds of film and all kinds of film treatments. I believe I’ve still taken more pictures with this camera than any of my other analog cameras. I’m still totally smitten with its unique look and dual-framing option.
LUBITEL 166 UNIVERSAL. I acquired this camera directly from a gentleman in Moscow. it has its limitations, but the pictures it can take, it takes exceedingly well. the taking lens is surprisingly sharp and the ground glass focus is quite accurate with a little practice.
KODAK PONY MODEL C. My parents gave me this little guy, which had been sitting around in a filing cabinet for about 40 years or so, I think. Focus and exposure are pure guesswork, and only one shutter speed is dependable on this particular specimen, but it has become my favorite camera to use with experiments in 35mm film soaking, and with a little trial and error I’ve been able to take some great shots with it.
SX-70 MODEL 2. This camera came from a wonderful lady in my neighborhood, who let me have it and a sun 600 for a paltry sum. the roller assembly was busted, so i ordered a replacement on ebay from another model. now it has a two tone white and chrome body! view shots i’ve taken with it here.
MAMIYA/SEKOR MSX 500. This is a rock solid and super usable 35mm SLR kit that i picked up piecemeal — the body on craigslist, and the lenses on ebay. It’s pictured here with a 28mm lens on, and next to it are 50mm and 135mm lenses. Super awesome for sharp street photos and walkabouts, and does quite well for portraits and concert photography too. These lenses are all awesome. You can check out photos I’ve taken with it here.
HOLGA 135. I ordered it from the Four Corner Store and I’ve been very happy with all the results I’ve gotten from both daytime and flash shots. it has that special Holga thing going on (dark corners and dreamy focus) but grainier pictures because of the smaller 35mm negatives. awesome to have along on a trip or at a party!
